Description

Roman Arena Wooden Linen Covered shield measures Height 42" by Width=33. Featuring a Blue Face embellished with Laurels and Ribbons a long with a brass boss at its center. The concaved shape that curves subtly around the holder allowing nothing to get past when interlocked with others.

Historical Period

The oval scutum is depicted on the Altar of Domitius Ahenobarbus in Rome, the Aemilius Paullus monument at Delphi, and there is an actual example found at Kasr el-Harit in Egypt. By the end of the 3rd century the rectangular scutum seems to have disappeared
